LED Hardware and Software for Linux and Windows

This is software using a couple of LEDs connected to a parallel port. We have software for Linux and Win9x.

Our Hardware page describes how to build a LED project consisting of 8, 12 or 32 LEDs.

Download

Linux 2.4 led-1.0.tar.gz
Linux 2.6 led-linux26.tar.gz
Win 9x led.exe binary, source is included in the tar archives.

Pictures

The following three pictures show my computer with a 32led version.

32led version
If have installed the 32 leds into the front panel of my case. I use standard 5mm 5V leds, which fitted perfectly into the front.

connecting the individual leds
The back-view shows how I have assembled the leds. All leds share a common ground, where each pin of a led is soldered to its neighbour. The other pins are connected via 4 8pin flat cables to the lateches.

complete back view
The latches are mounted on a board in the lower half of the front panel. The lower flat cable with 25 pins comes directly from the internal parallel port connector of the mainboard. As the parallel port only uses 19 pins, I have used one wire for 5V voltage supply.
